Ok I may have the strangest headlines on the planet but this is the best description that relates to your success or failure in Internet Marketing.
Some years ago there was a commercial put out by the SPCA that showed a picture of a middle aged dog outside in the cold on a leash tied to a tree.
Then from the well lit window on the house nearby you overheard voices from a dinner party inside the home.
"So where is that cute little puppy you had the last time we were here" the dinner guest asks...
"Oh he's not so cute anymore, he lives out in the backyard now"
Said the cold hearted owner to the dinner guest as the camera fades to the sad face of the poor dog left out in the cold.
That, more than any other analogy is exactly what big name marketers do to their customers every launch day!
They are all happy and excited on launch day with their cute little new customer but what about 6 moths, 6 weeks or sadly
6 days from now?
By then the money has been made, the fanfare is over and you the customer find yourself out there in the cold, wondering what happened.
The bottom line is the model that most marketers use forces them to leave their customers out in the cold.
As Johnny Cochran would say...
"A One Time Sale Causes The Customer To Fail!"
Lets take your typical product launch following the now bastardized "Launch Formula".
There is the massive buildup, anticipation and hype then the "big bang" of launch day and "gang bang" of emails in your inbox from all the usual suspects!
Based on admitted results as much as 75% of all the revenue a product will ever earn using this formula is on the day of launch... then what?
I can tell you, then what, then the seller loves the customer, for a while and as technical support, and customer service questions start to roll in they soon discover its not as fun as launch day and worse they are not longer getting paid...
Slowly they grow disenchanted with those issues and customers and are far more interested in the next big thing. It's only human nature since they have no responsibility to you over the long haul.
They have already made their money and have moved on long before you have mastered the product, software or training.
What if instead of the big bang, the seller just charged you a much smaller monthly fee for the training, software etc...?
I think it's pretty clear why most "Gurus" would rather sell you a big box of DVDs and move on than take responsibility for delivering value to you on an ongoing basis each and every month!
Hype would never last past the first month and true quality would have to kick in or everyone would cancel their monthly subscription!
Every crappy product would get massive social "Dis-Proof" and the customers would bail out fast.
That's is why John Jonas and I sold our software products on a monthly membership, rather than a one time quick hit and run job!
Since we launched Click Flipping (Keyword conversion tracking for affiliate products) and Undercover Profits (PPC Affiliate program spy tool) there have been no less than ten lame copies!
They are either very low priced knock offs with a small monthly payment or you guessed it, and one time hit and run sale!
I've bought them all and can tell you that the majority of them were crap! The poor customers who thought they were getting the same thing as our CF and UCP products for much less were soon waking up to the fact that they were left out in the yard!
Meanwhile John and I were conducting our second high level two day training seminar just 5 months after the first one featuring trainers that routinely charge as much as $5,000 each for a two day seminar.
And how much do you think we charged our customers for that 2 full days of No Sales, hard core specific training?
Zero!
It's because we believe and now have proof that providing a customer long term support leads them to the money!
Guess what? when you customer makes money, they stay your customer and if you have an ongoing responsibility to them, by way of a monthly membership, they stay, and it creates a win-win relationship and in some cases life long friendships!
I can tell you with certainty that no "guru" will be there for you long term after the one night stand of a one time sale on launch day!
They simply can't as their income stops and therefore their time spent supporting former products is about as fun as you paying off that credit card for something you bought and forgot last year!
So what is the answer?
Well I can tell you one bright shining example of somebody that does it right and has very happy customers... Ryan Deiss!
A few times a year Ryan opens up the door to about 25 customers who pay a significant amount to go through the 30 days to $10,000 a month training program.
I myself have wanted in this program for almost a year now and every time its offered sadly I'm just not on the ball enough to beat the crowd!
The last time it sold out in 4 minutes!
4 Minutes!
Why? Because it now has a reputation of producing happy customers who make $10,000 a month or much more as a result of Ryan's program!
Similarly John and I have helped our existing customers go from zero to hero and develop massive income. There are at least two of my customers that in less than three months earned far more that I did using the exact same techniques that we taught them???
I logged in to my referral account one day and calculated that one of my customers was grossing over $40,000 a month from CPA empire alone! Just one of the dozens of companies we work with!
Now that's fun!
I want to throw out a challenge to any "Guru" with the balls to play along!
Stop selling one time, one hit wonders to your customers and stand by your product long term, develop customers or clients not just orders!
I for one will be answering support emails tonight from customers that I created almost a year ago!
Now, about our upcoming Apprentice program.
John and I are taking the concept or customer responsibility one step further.
We have developed a system that reverse engineers exactly what we do to earn multiple six figure incomes, then holds your hand each step of the way from the very beginning baby steps to the finish line.
